The 10/66 Dementia Research Group Population-Based Cohort Study investigates the lives of older people in 8 study sites in low and middle-income countries with the aim of providing evidence for policy development and reform. Beginning in 2005, 10/66 Mexico recruited participants aged at least 65 years old from two locales: a rural location in Morelos State in south-central Mexico and urban Mexico City. Over 2,000 adults participated in the baseline data collection sweep between 2005 and 2006. Approximately half of the sample came from the rural locale and half from the urban locale. Participants were followed up between 2009 and 2010 and again between 2015 and 2016.
