Sample details

LBC1921 was established in 1999 to follow up with participants of the Scottish Mental Survey of 1932. The original survey had taken place across schools in Scotland in 1932 and tested a total of 87,498 children aged 10-11 years. Seventy years later, survey participants were identified in Edinburgh and the surrounding area known as the Lothians and invited to participate in LBC1921. 550 participants aged 78-80 years joined the study and completed the first wave of follow up assessments between 1999 and 2001.
