REACH is an accelerated cohort study investigating the development and course of mental health problems in young people from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds in London, England. Between 2016 and 2017, the study recruited three cohorts from 12 schools in Croydon, Lambeth and Southwark. Cohort 1 (C1) participants were in Year 7 and aged 11-12 years at baseline. Cohort 2 (C2) participants were in Year 8 and aged 12-13 years at baseline. Cohort 3 (C3) participants were in year 9 and aged 13-14 years at baseline. Data has been collected on participants 6 times so far, in 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, with a seventh data collection scheduled for 2024 - 2025. Over 4,300 participants from the three cohorts have completed the baseline data collection. A sub-sample of around 180 from each cohort (a total of around 540) was also recruited to complete more detailed interviews and assessments and provide biological samples at sweeps one and two.
