Sample details

LBC1936 was established in 1999 to follow up with participants of the Scottish Mental Survey of 1947. The original survey had taken place across schools in Scotland in 1947 and tested a total of 70,805 children aged 10-11 years. Seventy years later, survey participants were identified in Edinburgh and the surrounding area known as the Lothians and invited to participate in LBC1936. Over 1,090 participants aged 68-71 years joined the study and completed the first wave of follow up assessments between 2004 and 2007.
