Sample details

This prospective, population-based study aims to find biomarkers for the cause and progression of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA). All men born from 1941-1942 in the Swedish county of Uppsala were identified from the National Population Registry and consequently invited to screening for AAA with aortic ultrasound examinations at the age of 65 across 2006-2007. The initial screening cohort included over 3,200 men. Additional screening is planned to occur every 5 years at ages 70, 75, and 80.
