The Spanish Longitudinal Study on Ageing and Health investigates a representative sample of Spanish adults aged 50 years and older, with a focus on the oldest individuals, alongside a comparison group aged 18 to 49 years residing in Spanish regions. The sample was recruited through census records and refreshed in 2019 to address attrition. The 2019 cohort collected data primarily from Madrid and Barcelona provinces. On average, 50.9% of the 2011 baseline cohort were women, which is equal to the total Spanish population in that year.
