AGRICAN explores the links between agricultural exposure and cancer risk in a cohort of farm workers in France. Adults aged at least 18 and associated with the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA) for at least 3 years were recruited from 11 regions of France, including Somme, Bas Rhin, Doubs, Isere, Tarn, Gironde, Vendee, Loire Atlantique and Manche. At baseline, the study included over 180,000 participants. Participants were a mix of active and retired farmworkers and farm managers, with the overall cohort being 54% male. Less than 30% of the cohort worked in industries adjacent to farming, including forestry, gardening and landscaping. Follow-ups are conducted periodically, with major follow-ups occurring every few years to monitor long-term health outcomes.
