ATP provides a platform to investigate cancer and other chronic diseases in the Canadian population. The study recruited participants aged 35 to 69 years, living in Alberta, Canada, with no prior history of cancer, able to speak English, and planning to reside in Alberta for at least one year. At baseline, data collection included 31,072 participants. Over 90% of participants identified as Caucasian, and over 70% reported living in urban areas. As of 2016, the cohort has grown to over 55,000 participants.
