Sample details

The Alexandros study aimed to investigate disability conditions associated with the nutritional status of older people in Chile. The study includes three cohorts of different demographic origin and socioeconomic status: (1) 1173 participants of the SABE study, recruited through probabilistic sampling; (2) 950 participants in the Alexandros cohort randomly selected from health care centre registries and (c) 266 participants of high socio-economic status, selected from the private health insurance system registries. All participants are 60 years and older and from Santiago, Chile. Baseline data collection began in 2000, and participants were followed up around 10 to 15 years after baseline.
