Sample details

The ALFA project was established in 2013 to investigate pathophysiological changes in pre-clinical Alzheimer’s disease (AD). It has prospectively followed cognitively unimpaired late- and middle-aged participants, most of whom are adult children of AD patients. Participants are cognitively unimpaired Spanish and/or Catalan-speaking persons aged between 45 and 74 years. Over 2,700 people were enrolled at baseline. A subset of 450 participants of the ALFA parent cohort were recruited and underwent a nested longitudinal long-term study, named the ALFA+ study.
