The AMI cohort is an epidemiological prospective study on health and aging conducted in former farm-owners and farm-workers living in rural setting in South-Western France. In 2007, the participants were randomly recruited from the reimbursement database of the unique French Farmer Health Insurance System, retired from agriculture, at least 65 years and older at baseline, and living in rural area in Gironde, South-Western France. The study started in 2007, with two follow-up visits over 5 years. Baseline visits were conducted at home by a neuropsychologist, then by a geriatrician for all cases suspected of dementia. Brain MRI were performed on a sub-sample of the AMI cohort in the frame of the AMImage project in 2009–2011 and a second wave of MRI was conducted 3 years later in the frame of the AMImage2 project.
