Sample details

The APACE study aims to investigate methods to improve the speed of detection or exclusion of acute myocardial infarction in patients presenting with acute chest pain to the emergency department. Since 2007, the study has recruited adults with acute chest pain within the last 12 hours who present to the emergency departments in 13 hospitals in Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Spain. As of 2025, 10,000 participants have been recruited into the study. The APACE study continues to recruit, and participants are followed up via telephone at 6, 12, 24 and 60 months after recruitment.
