Sample details

The ASCIR is a national register of incident cases of spinal cord injury that occur in Australia and overseas to Australian residents if they are treated in a spinal unit in Australia. Currently, 7 spinal units, all based in public hospitals, contribute data. Data on first and subsequent admissions, from 1 July 1995, to any of the 7 specialised spinal units in Australia are being registered prospectively. The ASCIR enables measurement of spinal cord injury incidence and study of circumstances and mechanisms.
