The AWHS is a longitudinal study involving 5,400 participants working at a car assembly plant in Zaragoza, Spain. Participants were recruited during their annual health exams between 2009 to 2010, with the study aiming to investigate the development of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases within middle-aged individuals free of clinical cardiovascular disease. The participants specifically included of 5,048 male participants, with the mean age of 49.3 years and 351 female participants, with the mean age of 40.8 years, who are followed-up for 10 years.
