Sample details

The AZAR Cohort study investigates the genetic, lifestyle, and environmental risk factors for common, non-communicable diseases in a cohort of Iranian Azeris, the largest minority population group in Iran. Participants aged 35-70 years with at least one Azeri parent were recruited between 2014 and 2015 from Shabestar County in East Azerbaijan Province, northwestern Iran. The cohort is followed for 15 years, with repeated assessments of risk and resilience factors every 5 years.
