Sample details

Bamako HDSS was established in 2006 in the low-income urban communities of Djicoroni Para and Banconi in Bamako, the capital of Mali. The HDSS covers an area of 11.15 km2 and has around 227,000 people. An average of two rounds of demographic data are collected annually, and a network of informants provides realtime alerts about births, deaths, and pregnancies in the community. Since 2017, the HDSS has been associated with the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) network.
