BCGP is British Columbia's (Canada) largest, prospective, population-based cohort, health research databank and biobank. It aims to better understand the effects of environmental exposures, lifestyle, and genetics on chronic diseases such as cancer. Between 2009 and 2016, the BCGP recruited nearly 30,000 British Columbia residents aged 35-69 years. All participants have provided baseline information including their health, diet and lifestyle, and medical and family history. A high percentage have also provided baseline biosamples (blood and urine) and other physical measures. BCGP participants will continue to be followed periodically for up to 50 years, with passive follow-up including ongoing linkage to provincial administrative health data.
