Bushehr Elderly Health Program (BEH)

The BEH program is a population-based prospective cohort study being conducted in Bushehr, a southern province of Iran, focused on musculoskeletal disorders and cognitive impairment in the elderly. A total of 3,000 older people aged 60 years and over participated in the first stage in March 2013 and October 2014; then 2,772 were eligible to participate in the second stage, which started 2.5 years later in September 2015. The main follow-up assessments of risk factors are carried out every 5 years for three consecutive periods (a total of 15 years of follow-up).
