BHS is Iran's first national cohort study among employees of the Ministry of Health. The study aimed to determine the effect size of the risk factors associated with non communicable diseases among Iranian community health workers (known as Behvarzes) of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education across 20 years. The study recruited employed and retired Behvarzes, and second grade Behvarz students. Follow-up occurs every 3 months over the phone or in person.
