The Betula project is a longitudinal study on ageing in Sweden that started with 1,000 participants aged 35 to 80 years, in 1988. The original and supplemental samples have been followed every five years since the study onset. Supplemental samples have included individuals aged 25 to 90 years. Over time, attrition has occurred naturally due to mortality and other factors.
