The BHWHS is a longitudinal, open cohort consisting of employer and survey data on approximately 16,000 hospital-based patient care workers. The participants are aged between 18 and 72 years and are based at two large hospitals within Mass General Brigham, a major health system and the largest employer in Massachusetts, United States. The participants are nursing directors, assistant nursing directors, clinical nurse managers, staff nurses, and patient care associates (PCA). As of 2017, the cohort has 8,200 active employees and 15,965 total employees.
