The BKNCD Cohort Study is part of the larger PERSIAN (Prospective Epidemiological Research Studies in IrAN) Cohort. The study aimed to determine the incidence and prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, chronic renal and liver disorders, diabetes and cancers in the adult population of Iran. Between 2016 and 2018, the study recruited more than 4,000 adults aged 35-70 years residing in the city of Kong, Hormozgan Province, Iran. Participants were followed up annually by telephone until 2018 and reassessed in person in 2021.
