The BMS was a household panel survey designed to evaluate developments linked to the Bicol River Basin Development Project (BRBDP). Beginning in 1978, BMS recruited around 1,900 households, comprising more than 17,000 individuals of all ages from the provinces of Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon in the Philippines. Data were collected through individual-, household-, and community-level surveys of participating households in 1978 and 1983. Households in the province of Camarines Sur were also followed up on in 1994.
