The BRHS cohort is a population-based sample of over 7,500 men, recruited from single general practices in 24 British towns across England, Scotland, and Wales, representing all major British regions at the time. Commencing between 1978 to 1980 when participants were aged between 40 and 59 years, the study has since followed the cohort for over 40 years.
