Sample details

To study trends in patients' characteristics and substance use patterns, the Treatment Demand Indicator (TDI) gathers information about the registration of patients with substance use disorders at the European level (28 member states of the European Union, Turkey and Norway). In Belgium, this registration began at the national level in 2011, and an increasing number of facilities have participated in data collection. The BTDIR collects information on every treatment episode started by a person in a treatment centre for alcohol or illicit drug use. The registration concerns all individuals without any restriction based on age or nationality. In 2011, the BTDIR included over 6,000 registered treatment episodes.
