Sample details

Participants of the Bulgarian PSS were recruited within three days of ischemic stroke onset. Eighty five patients were included in the study, and were all aged between 50 and 80 years, with a mean age of 65.6 years. A control group of 25 subjects, matched to the patients group according to their age and educational level, were also included. The baseline assessment was completed within five days of their stroke. Participants were then followed up one month, six months, and 12 months following.
