BYDS investigates substance use behaviours from early adolescence to adulthood. Between 2000 and 2001, the study recruited and assessed over 3,800 pupils in their first year of post-primary education, aged 10 to 11 years, from over 40 schools in Northern Ireland (United Kingdom). Participants were assessed yearly until 2005, then again in 2007, 2010, and 2025.
