The CAPS is an epidemiological population study of over 2,500 men aged between 45 and 59 years at recruitment, from Caerphilly and the adjoining villages in Wales, United Kingdom. Participants were initially identified from the local electoral register and general practice lists. Over 400 further participants were added to the study during the second phase of data collection from 1984 to 1988.
