CAMB is a comprehensive cohort study following the life-course of participants born in Denmark between 1948 and 1961. The CAMB cohort is a combined sample of individuals who previously participated in three earlier established cohort studies with rich data on the first half of their lives: The Metropolit Cohort (MP; men born in Copenhagen in 1953); The Copenhagen Perinatal Cohort (CPC; men and women born at the National University Hospital in Copenhagen in 1959-1961); and the Danish Longitudinal Study on Work, Unemployment, and Health (DALWUH; men and women born in 1949 and 1959). Around 18,000 participants from the previous studies who were still living in the Eastern parts of Denmark (aged 49-61 years), were invited to participate in CAMB in 2009-2011. A total of 7,191 (40%) completed questionnaire data on psychosocial, behavioural, health-related and social variables and 5,576 (31%) in addition completed physical and cognitive examinations, and provided biospecimens. The biobank and database combines data previously collected from the three cohorts along with 2 waves of follows-up within the CAMB study, and enables further follow-up of participants through linkage to national health and social registers.
