The study aimed to describe the prevalence of child- and parent-reported acute stress disorder (ASD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other emotional disorders, as well as the degree of agreement between children and parents, in a sample of trauma-exposed children and adolescents. It involved children and adolescents aged 10 to 16 who attended a South London (United Kingdom) emergency department following an assault or motor vehicle accident (MVA). Out of 106 participants, 93 completed the initial assessment, while 13 only completed self-report questionnaires on other aspects of their posttraumatic response. The mean age of the children in the study was 13.8 years, and most participants were boys.
