The CARhES cohort was set up in 2020 to analyse the use of healthcare services and drugs in patients with risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The cohort includes all people aged 16 years and above registered as users of the Aragón Health System in Spain with a medical diagnosis of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and/or dyslipidaemia. At launch in 2020, the cohort included over 445,000 individuals with data from 2017 onwards. Following the 2021 update, the number of patients in the cohort increased to over 530,000. Secondary data from health services on included patients dates from 2017, with follow-up currently planned until 2026.
