The CaT study aims to describe the health status of a population of centenarians, measuring disease and disability prevalence, use of social and health services, and present and past lifestyles. It is particularly focused on cognitive impairment and dental health. Participants are around 150 centenarians in Trieste, Italy, recruited through the local health authority. The first wave of recruitment and interviews began in 2014 with 70 participants. A second wave began in 2017, including the recruitment of new participants and a follow-up of those who participated in wave 1. Participants' medical records from 2000 to 2014 were collected through linkage.
