Citizenship Education Longitudinal Study (CELS)

The CELS is a longitudinal survey of civic learning, behaviours, and attitudes across secondary schools in England, United Kingdom. The study consisted of both cross-sectional and longitudinal components. The first longitudinal component was a longitudinal survey of over 18,000 students across 112 schools, beginning when participants were in Year 7. The second longitudinal component was a qualitative case study including 10 schools from the longitudinal survey and a further 10 schools involved in a separate cross-sectional component. Data has also been collected from school leaders and teachers at the schools involved.
