This study aimed to investigate how changes in the infant brain related to transitions in social behaviour in the first 6 months of life. Between 2015 and 2016, the study recruited 79 newborns who were born between 32 and 41 weeks of gestational age from an existing cohort studying infants at low and high risk for developing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America. Participating infants were followed up 7 times to collect behavioural data and 3 times to collect neuroimaging data between birth and age 6 months.
