Sample details

CHARMS aimed to validate diagnostic criteria to identify young people at risk of developing serious mental illnesses. Between 2016 and 2018, the study recruited two groups of participants who were referred to mental health services in Melbourne, Australia: the CHARMS+ group, which consisted of 160 young people aged 12 to 25 years who met the clinical high at-risk mental state (CHARMS) criteria, and the CHARMS- group, which consisted of 160 young people aged 12 to 25 years with symptoms of mental illness that do not reach the CHARMS threshold. Participants were assessed at three time points: baseline, six and twelve months.
