COBRA is a comprehensive repository of data and biological samples from overweight and obese children and their families in Australia. Participants were primarily recruited into the study following presentation to the specialist weight management service at The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Additional recruitment was also undertaken from a randomised controlled trial, two additional clinical centres, and one population-based cohort study. All children and adolescents (up to age 17.99 years) from these sites were approached to participate in the study. As of June 2016, around 500 index children had been recruited into COBRA. Data including blood samples and anthropometric measurements is collected from participants at initial visits, and through clinic re-attendance up until patients reach age 18.
