The CHEF research projects focus on the health of children and adults in the Faroe Islands, Denmark, with an emphasis on the impact of seafood diets and marine contaminants. Cohort 5 included participants born during an 18-month period between October 2007 and April 2009. The total number of mother-child pairs included was 475. In addition, 281 of the fathers participated in an examination of sperm quality along with a blood sample, and both grandmothers were invited for a dietary questionnaire and blood sampling. The children have been examined at age 18 months. Follow-up included a 42-month examination and detailed clinical examinations at 5 years of age.
