This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of antiretroviral therapy (ART) by examining health and treatment responses in HIV-positive individuals. The study began in 2002 with a pilot programme in one county in Henan Province, involving approximately 7,000 participants. By the end of 2003, the programme had expanded to include nine provinces and became a nationwide cohort by 2004. In 2007, the study included over 42,000 participants, comprising both adult and paediatric cohorts. After treatment initiation, follow-up visits are scheduled at 0.5, 1, 2, and 3 months, and once every 3 months thereafter.
