Sample details

The CKB, formerly known as the Kadoorie Study of Chronic Disease in China (KSCDC), is an open-ended study that enables research on a wide range of chronic non-communicable diseases in the Chinese population. Between 2004 and 2008, the study recruited from the general population in Gansu, Harbin, Qingdao, Suzhou, Zhejiang, Liuzhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Henan, and Haikou in China using residential rosters. This resulted in a baseline sample of over 512,000 adults aged between 30 and 79 years. Participants are followed up via linkage to health records, with resurveys conducted to date in 2008, 2013–14, and 2020–21.
