Canberra Longitudinal Study (CLS)
BACK
Sample details

The CLS began in 1990 and investigated factors influencing cognitive decline, dementia, and depression in a community-based sample of elderly people living in or near Canberra, Australia. At baseline, participants were at least 70 years old and living in the Canberra or Queanbeyan area in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). A subset of participants were recruited from nursing homes in the region. To increase the number of very elderly participants, people aged 92 years or more were also recruited. This resulted in a total cohort of 1,135 participants divided between a community sample, a nursing home sample, and a very elderly sample.
