The CODAM Study aims to investigate the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It comprises 574 participants from the Maastricht region in the Netherlands, recruited in 1999-2000 based on elevated risk factors such as age, BMI > 25, family history of type 2 diabetes, and other criteria. The cohort includes men and women aged 40 to 77 years, and participants have been followed up at least twice, with major assessments conducted approximately 7 and 12 years after the initial visit.
