Sample details

The CODAS study is a longitudinal, prospective clinical study aimed at investigating cognitive functioning, risk factors for cognitive impairment, and the course of cognitive functioning after stroke. Almost 200 participants were recruited from a university hospital in Maastricht, the Netherlands within 48 hours of being admitted for a stroke. Participants had to have had their first-ever hemispheric stroke, be fluent in Dutch, be over 40 years old, and be able to undergo neuropsychological assessment. The first assessment to determine eligibility for the study occurred within 48 hours of the stroke and further assessments took place at one month, six months, one year, and two years.
