CogFAST Nigeria investigates the factors associated with vascular cognitive impairment after a stroke. The study recruited stroke survivors and healthy age-matched controls from the Federal Medical Center Abeokuta and University Colege Ibadan specialist hospitals and the surrounding community in southwest Nigeria. All participants were at least 45 years old without a subarachnoid haemorrhage, a significant illness that would prevent paper and computer-based assessments, neurological illnesses, or psychiatric conditions. At baseline, the cohort consisted of over 140 stroke survivors and over 70 control participants.
