This study is a population-based prospective cohort study, designed to examine the comparative effectiveness of treating depression during pregnancy. The sample consisted of four cohorts which differ based on their depression status and treatment regimens, as well as a control group with no depression for baseline comparison. All participants were pregnant Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC) members aged 18 or above, residing in the United States.
