The Copenhagen High-Risk Project recruited children of schizophrenic mothers and children of non-schizophrenic mothers (control participants) in Copenhagen, Denmark, to follow the development, course and outcome of schizophrenia in high and low-risk groups. The control participants were matched to the children of schizophrenic mothers on a variety of factors, including age, sex, social class, education, rural-urban residence and home experience. All children had no serious mental health conditions when entering the cohort. This resulted in a baseline cohort of over 200 children of schizophrenic mothers and over 100 matched control participants.
