The study investigated adults in Turkey diagnosed with a manic episode according to the DSM-5 criteria, and confirmed by a qualified physician. Participants were between the ages of 18 and 60, and did not present with low mental capacity, disruptive behaviours, or hallucinations during the interview. Further to this, all participants reported no severe organic diseases, cognitive-impairing organic diseases, limited formal education, recent substance or alcohol abuse (excluding nicotine and caffeine), significant neurological history, or recent electroconvulsive therapy.
