COURAGE in Europe was a three-year project involving 12 partners from four European countries and the World Health Organization (WHO), which aimed to evaluate the determinants of health and disability in an ageing population. The survey had been administered to a sample of 10,800 persons from Finland (1,976, with a mean age of 59.27 years), Poland (4,071, with a mean age of 57.62 years), and Spain (4,753, with a mean age of 60.44 years), which was completed in March 2012.
