The c-VEDA aims to investigate mechanisms underlying the development of externalizing disorders and addictions in adolescents in India. The study recruited participants aged between 6 and 23 years in India in Chandigarh, Imphal, Asansol, Rishi Valley, Bengaluru, and Mysore to create an accelerated cohort study. Participants were divided into three cohorts according to age. Participants were from both rural and urban locales and represented a range of castes, religions, occupations, socioeconomic circumstances, and familial risk profiles for externalizing disorders and addictions. Participants spoke various languages, including Kannada, Punjab, Hindi, Manipuri, Bengali, and Tamil. Over 9,000 participants make up the three cohorts.
