Sample details

The Danish Nurse Cohort Study collected information on many factors including socio-economic and working conditions, parents’ occupation, weight and height, lifestyle, and female health. In 1993, a questionnaire was mailed to over 23,000 female Danish nurses aged over 44 years. Followed by two reminders, close to 20,000 nurses replied with a completed questionnaire. The cohort was reinvestigated in 1999 with an additional inclusion of 10,534 nurses, who in the meantime were over 44 years of age. A third survey of the initial cohort from 1993 was carried out in 2009. Of the 15,322 nurses who replied in both 1993 and 1999, a total of 11,114 returned a completed questionnaire.
