The DANO-RUN aimed to identify persons at high-risk of sustaining running-related injuries. All participants were given a pair of neutral shoes and a GPS tracking watch, and asked to complete 52 runs within a year. Over 900 participants were recruited into the study, and around half of these were female. The participants were split into three age groups: approximately 30% were aged 18 to 30 years, around 50% were aged 35 to 45 years, and the remaining participants were aged 45 to 65 years. The mean age of all participants was 37.2 years, and a total of 254 sustained an injury during the 1-year follow-up.
